Creating & Originating a Role - BAT OUT OF HELL
Drawing on her experience of originating the role of Sloane in Bat Out of Hell, this practical performance workshop explores what it means to create a character from the ground up, collaborating with a creative team and show producers.
Working with text, scenes and songs from the show, participants explore character development, script and text analysis, acting through song, vocal choices and creating an authentic performance. Sessions can also incorporate light choreography and staging.
Character, Context & Acting Through Song - BILLY ELLIOT
A practical musical theatre workshop using material from Billy Elliot to explore the relationship between character, text, music and historical context.
Against the backdrop of the 1980s miners’ strike, participants investigate the world surrounding the characters before bringing that research into scenes and songs.
The workshop can explore character development, text analysis, acting through song, researching a role, ensemble storytelling and performance technique, with the option to incorporate light choreography.
Character, Comedy & Finding Your Own Voice - MAMMA MIA
Using material and themes from MAMMA MIA!, this workshop explores female empowerment, friendship, comedy, relationships and individuality in performance.
Participants investigate how to approach an established character without simply imitating performances that have come before, finding their own connection to the text, music and character.
The session can incorporate acting through song, character development, comedy, vocal technique and audition technique, making it particularly useful for performers preparing for professional or drama-school auditions.
